The Rabbit Club & Beginner's Handbook

The Rabbit Club

At Brøndby Golfklub, we prioritize beginners very highly. That is why we have a special organization of experienced volunteers and enthusiastic members who are passionate about beginner work and offer you their help and experience in your first 2 years as a golfer.

The beginner work takes place in close collaboration with the club's professional coach, our secretariat and other zealots in the club's other committees. Together, we will do our very best to make it fun, full of experiences and suitably challenging to become part of club life both on and off the pitch. You can see the members of the Beginner Committee on the website (under contact and committee members)

The Beginner's Handbook

The course was expanded from 9 to 18 holes in 2005. We are a club where family and social life are in focus. That is why one of our goals is for the course to be a course for the whole family. A course that is challenging, but at the same time fair and easily accessible, and where 3 generations can play together. The club currently has just over 950 members. You can read more about the club's history on the website.

Why the Beginner's Guide?

As a new player in the game and in the club, one must acquire the many new aspects of the game of golf such as swing and hitting techniques, choice of equipment, golf's many fun expressions, course conditions, nature, weather and wind, scorecard, handicap system, safety and not least the company of other happy people golf freaks.

The purpose of the Beginner's Handbook is to collect all important information that you have or will need as a beginner at Brøndby Golf Club. The beginner's handbook must create a kind of red thread throughout the beginner's course, so that you get a good, safe and educational start with lots of good golf experiences.

The beginner's committee's area of responsibility.

Here is a selection of the Novice Committee's areas of responsibility:

– take loving care of new golfers and introduce them to the facets of the game of golf.

- ensure that new golfers quickly feel comfortable at the club.

- contribute to shaping the players of the future by giving new players a reasonable knowledge of the club's values and norms off the course, as well as "gaining good habits" on the golf course from the start.

Trial membership

Brøndby Golfklub offers a 2-month trial membership for only DKK 1,495.00 to beginners who want to try the many challenges and experiences of golf. The beginner teams are expected to start continuously in the months of April, May, June, August and September.

We have organized an exciting beginner's course for your first 2 weeks as a trial member and which, when you hopefully become a member, will lead you safely and calmly towards the big "golf driver's license".

With us, you get a little booklet that we call a "beginner's pass", where together we follow up on the development of both your theoretical and practical skills, and which ultimately gets you ready to be unleashed on our 18-hole course at own hand.

Right from the start of the trial membership, we offer you a group of volunteer experienced members as "sponsors" who will guide, inspire, guide and help you get started with all the many facets of the game of golf both on and off the course.

If you already know an experienced golfer at the club, it will also be possible to use her/him as a sponsor. It simply requires that the person in question be approved by the Secretariat as a sponsor, and here the role of sponsor is made known.

In the first 4 weeks of your trial membership, you will receive 4 x group lessons of approx. 1 hour duration with the club's professional trainer. If for one reason or another you are prevented from participating in the group lessons, you can purchase private lessons. During the trial period, you can practice freely on our practice facility, i.e. our Driving Range, where we practice long shots and shots from Bunkers, which are sand-filled obstacles on the course, our Putting Green where the ball must be rolled into the hole and finally on the Par-3 course , a course with short holes, but where the challenges of the game can be tested.

In the same period, you get 1 x theoretical review of the rules and etiquette of the golf game, as well as 1 x course lesson, where you see what the rules and etiquette mean when you are on the course.

All trial members receive a ball key for "free balls" for training on the Driving Range (value DKK 350.00). There will also be an opportunity to buy a starter pack with tees, marker and pitchfork for a cheap price.

Golf is a sport that requires special knowledge of the rules. Because, unlike many other sports, in golf you are your own judge, and this naturally places very special expectations that high morals and ethics are displayed.

After the 4 weeks of practice and theory, we are ready to send you out and try your hand at the 18-hole course together with someone from your sponsor group. The sponsor rounds are arranged directly with one of your sponsors who is on your list and who has time. The sponsors will be helpful in booking a free time in Golfbox.

All trial members also have the opportunity to meet every Monday, where you can play a 9-hole fun round together with 1-2 other trial members and a sponsor. You must meet at 16:30 and be ready to go out on the field at 17:00

As a trial member, you have the opportunity to borrow equipment from the secretariat as long as stocks last.

When can I play the 18-hole course alone without sponsors?

Before we let you loose on the 18-hole course without a sponsor, you must have passed DGU's rules and etiquette test. After this, one of your sponsors or our professional coach must approve that you have acquired the practical skills to be able to walk alone on the 18-hole course.

Many beginners are eager to progress quickly with their golf and therefore buy lessons themselves from our professional coach.

You will never be taught how to become a golfer, which is why it is a really good idea to regularly invest in some lessons with our coach. After all, it is easier to learn swing and stroke technique correctly from the start than to later have to correct ingrained "errors and shortcomings" - although of course it can also be done.

When you have "passed", you will be assigned club handicap 54 and get one limited played to play on the 18-hole course without a sponsor.

The next goal is that you get full access to play freely on the 18-hole course. You get that when you have played down to EGA handicap 54 on 9 or 18 holes together with a sponsor or in a "rabbit tournament" (cf. later).

Full access also naturally requires a full membership by Brøndby Golf Club!

What happens when my 2 month trial membership expires?

We naturally hope that you have already had many good golfing experiences both on and off the course, and that the "golf bacillus" has taken such a hold in you that you are hungry to become a full member of Brøndby Golf Club.

After this, a new team of volunteers, experienced and enthusiastic members is ready to lift your golfing experiences to new heights.

The rabbit club meets every Monday in the period from April to September and play the very cozy and popular rabbit tournaments. Here you get the opportunity to play with equals, and many make new golf friends here for life.

You register for the rabbit matches via Golfbox. All the rabbit matches are played as a 9 hole tournament with a small co-pay which goes towards prizes. The matches are managed by a match committee, which makes the tournament schedule, and the game takes place in a cozy and relaxed atmosphere.

You then report to the starter no later than 16:40, where you will be put on hold and given your starting hole and starting time.

In each team, up to 2-3 beginners participate together with a "rabbit driver", who will continue to guide, inspire, guide and help you well on your way to even greater golf experiences.

The normal beginner course can last up to 2 years. Well in advance, we will make sure to introduce you to the other "clubs within the club", which are ready to offer you even more good golf experiences.
